Service Description
Ready to make your first pottery masterpieces? Unleash your creativity and learn the fundamental skills of wheel and handbuilding in our Beginners and Beyond course. This class guides you through creating both functional and decorative pieces—like cups, bowls, trinket dishes, and more—using a combination of wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Join us in a welcoming and supportive studio environment where you'll develop core skills, explore your artistic expression, and experience the joy of making with your hands. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and a love for getting creative! In this class, students will: • Learn the basics of working with clay, including wedging and slab rolling. • Understand essential studio practices, such as tool handling, body positioning, and organizing a workspace. • Gain hands-on experience with both wheel and handbuilding techniques: centering and pulling on the wheel, and pinching, coiling, and slab construction. • Explore surface decoration and embellishment techniques. • Practice proper drying, storage, and firing methods to help ensure their pieces turn out beautifully. • Create a variety of fun and functional projects. Tuition covers essentials, including clay, glaze, firings, and access to studio tools, ensuring a seamless and immersive learning experience. Each session spans six 2-hour classes, offering ample time for exploration and growth. Additionally, students have the option to extend their studio time with an optional open studio hour each week, starting from the second week onwards.
